About Us | Snuggli

We Started This Because of a Chonky Cat Named Eliza

Snuggli is a small, family-run business based out of North Carolina, and when we say family-run, we mean it. It's my husband and me, our three kids, and a revolving chaos of pet energy that somehow turns into real products people actually love. When orders go out, everyone pitches in, including the kids, who have very strong opinions about bubble wrap.

But before we get into all of that, let us introduce you to the real team: Goldie, Calvin, Zoey, and Eliza. They are our pets, our testing crew, and honestly, the reason any of this exists at all.

The Snuggli Testing Crew: Goldie, Calvin, Zoey, and Eliza illustrated in kawaii style

Meet Eliza (Our One-Eyed Beauty and Accidental Business Partner)

Eliza is our cat. She is, in the most loving possible way, a chonky girl. She eats too fast, she's missing one eye, and she is absolutely perfect. A while back, our vet suggested we look into a slow feeder bowl to help her slow down at mealtimes. So we did what anyone does: we went shopping online.

What we found was... not great. Everything looked like a medical supply prop or a plastic toy from a bargain bin. The options were either boring and utilitarian, or just cheap and kind of sad-looking. Nothing felt like something we'd actually want sitting out in our kitchen. Nothing felt like it was made with any real thought for the people who live with these animals, not just the animals themselves.

So we thought, what if we just made something better?

How Snuggli Actually Came Together

We started sketching ideas on our kitchen table, which, yes, was also covered in cat hair. Our early concepts were fine, functional, totally forgettable. We kept coming back to the same problem: we didn't just want to solve a practical issue, we wanted to make something that actually looked good in a real home.

Eventually, we landed on a kawaii-inspired design style, drawing from the kind of cute, considered Japanese aesthetic that manages to be playful without being babyish. It felt right. It felt like us. And honestly, it felt like something Eliza deserved.

From there, we moved into 3D-printed prototypes. We printed, adjusted, tested, reprinted, adjusted again. Goldie, Calvin, Zoey, and Eliza were involved at every stage, whether they wanted to be or not. We watched how they approached the bowls, how they ate, whether anything seemed frustrating or off. We iterated until it felt genuinely right, not just good enough.

That process takes longer. It costs more in time and effort. But we're not interested in rushing something out the door just to have a product. Every single thing Snuggli makes goes through the testing crew before it goes anywhere near a customer's home.

What We Make (Right Now)

We currently sell slow feeder cat bowls, and we are genuinely proud of them. Here's what makes them different:

  • Made from 100% food-grade silicone, completely BPA-free, so you're not putting anything sketchy in front of your pet
  • Dishwasher safe, because nobody has time to hand-wash a pet bowl every single day
  • Available in five colors that we picked because they actually look nice in a real kitchen: Lagoon, Lavender, Coral, Slate, and Matcha
  • Priced at $12.99, because good design shouldn't cost a fortune
  • Tested by real animals in a real house before they ever reach you

If you've been looking for a slow feeder that doesn't make your kitchen feel like a vet's office, you can browse our full slow feeder cat bowl collection here.

What We Actually Believe

We are tired of pet products that feel like an afterthought. The industry is full of things that are technically functional but designed with zero care for how they look, how they feel, or whether anyone would actually want them in their home. Pet owners love their animals. They spend real money on them. They deserve better than whatever scraped-together plastic thing has flooded the market this week.

Our philosophy is simple: a product should work well AND look good. Not one or the other. Both. For the pet and for the human who lives with that pet. We don't think you should have to sacrifice your home's aesthetic just because you're a responsible pet owner.

We also believe that safer materials matter. When your cat is eating out of something every single day, what it's made of is not a small detail. That's why we went with food-grade silicone from the start, and why we're not going to cut corners on materials just to widen a margin.

More Is Coming

We have more products in development, all going through the exact same process: concept, prototyping, testing with the crew, iteration, and more testing. We're not going to rush. We'd rather take our time and release something we're actually proud of than flood our shop with mediocre products just to look busy.

When something new is ready, you'll know because Eliza approved it first.

Thank You for Being Here

We started Snuggli because we wanted something better for our own pets. The fact that other people feel the same way, and that you're here reading this, genuinely means a lot to us. This is still a small, scrappy, family operation. Every order matters. Every review gets read. Every piece of feedback actually shapes what we do next.

We're just a family in North Carolina who loves their animals and got fed up with mediocre products. If that resonates with you, we think you'll love what we're building.

Come find your new favorite bowl: shop our slow feeder cat bowls and let us know what you think.

With love from our whole crew (yes, including Eliza),
The Snuggli Family
